Butcher Required

This job description outlines the key accountabilities of the role of Butcher at Summerhill Farm shop, it is not an exhaustive list and from time to time you will be asked to complete jobs and tasks outside of your normal responsibilities, as seen fit by either Head Butcher or the Managing Director. These however, will not be your permanent accountabilities which are listed below:- This role is a permanent position on 30 hours per week on a fully flexible basis Salary: Competitive CUSTOMER a. You are accountable for delivering excellent standards of customer service and quality at all times, this includes serving over the counter and quality checking of displays b. You are expected to execute all customer orders when placed and ensure that products are ordered and prepared in a timely manner to arrive when the customer requests. c. It is expected you will react to customers in the shop and ensure that you give them the best level of service possible, it is not acceptable to have queues in the shop. COLLEAGUES a. You are accountable for ensuring that you comply with Food Safety regulations, full training on our policies and procedures will be given. b. You are accountable for booking all your own holidays with the Head Butcher as per your annual holiday entitlement. It is your accountability to ensure that your holidays do not clash with other colleagues and that all holidays are booked prior to the end of each individual booking period. c. It is expected that you will review your own performance constantly and where required, agree training for your own personal development with either the Head Butcher or the Managing Director. d. It is expected that you will work as part of the Butchery team to delivery great results and sales. OPERATIONS a You will be accountable for usual aspects of butchery work, this includes the manufacturing of sausages, value added products(VAPs) and burgers. b You will also be expected to complete the cutting down of Beef, Lamb, Pork, Poultry and Game to a good standard with minimum amounts of wastage. c. You are accountable for minimising wastage through great code control. It is expected that you will not allow any out of date product to be on display to our customers at any time. d. You are responsible to help ensure that the Butchery counter complies with all food safety legislation and that all subsequent food safety inspections receive as a minimum a 5 star food hygiene rating for the Butchery. It is expected that you will complete all relevant Food Safety and Health and Safety paperwork on a daily basis, this is particularly relevant for all cleaning tasks which must be completed to agreed timescales. e. You are accountable for all other colleagues who work in the shop in terms of their Health and Safety, you will provide a safe working environment for them to work in and ensure that you work in a way that protects both your own and their safety at work. f. You are accountable for ensuring that all the products we sell are of the best possible quality meat, you are expected to complete at least 2 quality checks per day and remove/reduce any products that are not of sufficient quality g. You are accountable for good retail standards on the Butchery counters, all products must have a price ticket displayed at all times. Click to apply now for this exciting opportunity
