LOCATION: Bradford, West Yorkshire JOB TITLE: Chef SALARY & BENEFITS: Ł12,051 WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, term-time only plus 10 days, as and when required. THE COMPANY: Our client is an over-subscribed Academy, for boys and girls ageing from 11-18 which is located at the heart of the local community. The mission of the Academy is to offer outstanding character and academic education to students who live in socially and economically deprived areas. THE ROLE: The school is looking for an experienced chef with a positive nature, to join the well-established Catering team, reporting directly into the Catering Manager. The teams purpose is to deliver nutritional breakfasts, lunches and snacks to the students and staff of the school with minimal supervision from the Catering Manager. Key Responsibilities to include:- Production of meals and dishes in line with academy procedures Ordering and storage of goods from nominated suppliers in line with the academy stock holding policies Provide refreshments for visitors and meetings as and when required The carrying out of Hygiene, Health and safety policies and practices and COSHH regulations in line with the contractors documented schedules and due diligence practices. THE CANDIDATE: The successful applicant will have achieved City & Guilds 7061/2 or an NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Catering and also have gained the Food Hygiene Level 2 or above qualification. The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated individual, who is happy to work constructively as part of a team, but also will work well on their own initiative. Due to the nature of the environment, the ability to remain calm under pressure is essential and the candidate must also have experience of industrial/commercial catering operations. Key experience essential for the role: Experience of catering for a high-volume of people is essential Ability to lead and supervise a team A clear understanding of healthy eating and be able to promote this Previous experience working within the education sector is highly desirable although not essential An understanding of budgeting principles is also desirable Does this sound like you?
